Sunday photoshoot at Baia

It was another busy weekend working for me, doing what I love most - styling. The shoot was for an upcoming social media app EYE (international app launching in a couple of weeks in Malta) at a beautiful location of Baia beach club in Armier.

Linda, Daniela and B-biche, 3 not just beautiful but incredibly friendly models my our work even more enjoyable and fun. My styling suitcase was packed with feminine, flirty and uber trendy pieces from PROMOD and Miss Selfridge, cool shades from SUNLAB and statement jewellery form MVINTAGE.

We also had few pieces from Carla Grima’s lastest collection of beachwear .

Enjoy these behind-the-scenes shots!

P.S: Do I have to remind you that all of the outlets mentions above are on up to 50% SALE?!

Black Jumpsuit Look

MarieClaire couldn’t say it better. A jumpsuit is the hero piece of your wardrobe: it’s that throw-on, no-need-to-coordinate, super easy piece that never fails to make an impact.

A bold one-colour jumpsuit is the answer to your evening and weekend dressing. Accessorise with chunky cuffs and big necklaces for night and dress down with this season’s flats for a relaxed look.

Simple Coordinates

I am so into coordinates this summer. It’s definitely ‘right now’ trend you can wear to any day or night occasion if you pair it with right accessories and shoes. It’s most probably the most easiest outfit to style. You can’t possibly get it wrong. Coordinates are basically top and bottom pieces made from the same fabric, looking the same. It’s a great outfit if you want to make a statement even though I like to keep this look simple.

Tropical Walk

I know this look is not for everyone. But if you are lucky enough to be size 6 or 8, and you dedicate couple of hours a week to your body you should definitely pull this one off. This holiday inspired look is great for any pool party or a day at sea.

WHITE SAIL

You might think of it as the color of wedding dresses, but there’s nothing bridal about wearing the shade this summer season. White gives outfits a feeling of extra airiness and adds serious pop to any color worn elsewhere. It’s a great color to wear if you head out to brunch, the office, or a party.

Top 10 Crop Top Summer Looks

Posted By on Jun 18, 2014

Crop tops are the thing I am currently obsessing about. I have been looking at them on ASOS, and in-store outlets but didn’t have the courage to buy one yet. Crop tops are around for a couple of seasons now and we can say with confidence that they are not going out of fashion anything soon. I love how crop tops look but I have’t been working out for a while now and the idea of wearing one gives me strange feeling that you must be fit and have abs of steel to show off. Good news, my feelings are wrong.  I will share couple of tips with you how to wear a crop top and look good whatever body shape you are.

Champagne Wars

Where did my interest in crop tops come from? I am attending one of the most over-the-top parties in Malta next week Champagne Wars on Saturday 28th June at Cafe del Mar. I am expecting nothing but beautiful people wearing super stylish outfits. I have been thinking of what to wear for the party, looking for inspiration on Instagram and Pinterest. It’s a day party by the pool that starts at 2pm in the afternoon so it must be something suitable for the heat. While browsing numerous looks for ideas, crop tops seemed to be cropping up from everywhere. I think they are a pretty good option. I can wear it either with a pencil skirt to go for a sophisticated look, or baggy trousers for more urban chic look.

3 tips how to wear crop top

1. It is important not to show too much skin. If you wear a bandeau top or top with strings pair it with high-waisted skirt or trousers, pencil or midi skirt to show just a little bit of skin on your tummy.

2. If you wear shorts or mini skirt, crop top must be long sleeved and wear it preferably with flat shoes.

3. If you still want to show your legs and wear a crop top, throw over a kimono or a blazer.

Now enjoy the gallery and let me know which look is your fave! Look no. 10 is definitely my style!

Last weekend was all about Sun, Long Flower Dress & Orange and Black.

Sundays are becoming officially my ‘tanning’ days. I usually go for a cappuccino and a breakfast cup (pretty healthy breakfast in a cup with oats, dried fruit and yogurt) from my favorite place in Sliema, Mint. I like to wake up early in the morning so I can enjoy the most of the day, it makes the day to feel really long :).

After my semi-healthy breakfast I drove to Golden Bay and spent lovely 3 hours kissing the sun. It was my second swim this year and I must say sea was much warmer than it was last week. I remember days back when I first came to Malta, I could spent hours on the beach, swimming and sunbathing. When I say hours I mean 6 to 8 hours of full exposure to sunlight. Yes I was mad! Now I became more used to the weather and couple of hours are more than enough.

I never spent too much time thinking what to wear. I just put on this long flower printed dress I bought 2 years ago at New Look. Keeping it simple and comfortable I wear it with flat sandals I bought this year from New Look too.

Black, Red and Orange

Black never used to be my color, but I guess I am changing (maybe it comes with the age?). I see myself liking and actually buying more and more pieces in black. I have no make-up on and I just washed my hair with very little effort to style it. That’s how I like to spend my Sundays. Enjoy couple of shots below in a very urban environment.

By now you most probably all know that there was a 2nd PINK (magazine) Fashion Show last Tuesday at Villa Bologna in Attard.

Pink Fashion Show Brands

It was a summer inspired show showcasing summer collections of high-street brands like Tommy Hilfiger, River Island, New Look. Armani Jeans, Oysho, Esprit, Miss Selfridge, Guess and a last show of Furla and Swarowski jewellery. Villa Bologna was beautifully decorated with flowers, comfortable chairs and bean bags, together with loads of sweets, drinks and beautiful people.

I enjoyed the time before the show with fellow bloggers sipping on cherry Cisk beer, and Long Island Kinnie.

The show was in a garden with a lovely fountain. Models were wearing flower head pieces and countless, colourful summer outfits.

Check out what went down at PINK Fashion Show on my Instagram or enjoy the images and a video on Times of Malta.

Summer 2014 officially started!

I spent my Sunday morning on the beach, licking the sun and working on my tan. After about 2 hours of lying on the sand at Golden Bay and 1 very quick swim (yes, the sea is still freaking cold) my tanning session got, how can I say it, well painful.  From the photos below, I can say that I’ll definitely need couple of more sessions of tanning to look summer-ready.

Red Dress and NIKE shoes

After a nice cold shower I was ready to enjoy the rest of day. I wanted to give my feet a break and the most comfortable pair of shoes I own are these neon yellow NIKE running shoes. Last year I used to run 10km before work in them, this year they’ve got an upgrade to my everyday selection of shoes. I always wanted to pair them with a dress, so here they are, complementing my new red Mango dress.

Malta Fashion Week 2014 is over.

I am going to try and keep this one short because no one reads long posts (besides Google robots) anyway.

WHAT I LOVED ABOUT MALTA FASHION WEEK

It was the most tiring yet so exciting fashion packed week I ever experienced in Malta. It was my first fashion week I actually went to every single show and shared my experience with you.

I loved that all events were happening in Valletta. I loved that I could personally meet other bloggers and sit next to them in a front row. I love Daniel Azzopardi and I am very happy he won the best fashion blogger award 2014. He is simply being himself in whatever he says or wears and that’s what I like about him. I really appreciate the hard work of Adrian Mizzi and his team to put all this madness together. For such a small island it’s impressive! I loved Gaby and Lana in every single show and outfit they were walking in. Omg I loved all ALDO shoes! Best show for me was of Ritienne Zammit! I loved the location for Malta Fashion Awards! SmartCity nailed it!

Message to all new designers: Super well done! You all’ve done an amazing job. Never give up!

Message to all bloggers: I admire every single one of you. The effort you put in blogging impresses me. It was a pleasure meeting you  all. Keep up the great work!

I’ve lost a lot of drive for that one reason.

Now have a look at what I wore for Malta Fashion Awards. It’s a black dress paired with a  custom designed jacket by SIGNE  - Danish fashion designer currently living in Spain and black heels with socks.

Malta Fashion Awards 2014

I know that jacket is totally amazing! I am so in love with it. You can’t really see it but it has a hoodie and it is perfectly tailored with pleated details on both sleeves. I am excited to see AND wear more of Signe’s pieces! Thank you so much!

Wish you a wonderful weekend guys!

The last event of the Malta Fashion Week 2014 brought fashion from Serbia, France, Nigeria and Scotland to Malta. It was amazing to watch such a versatile show with every collection reflecting different style and mood.

Danijela Bozic

The show started with the collection of Danijela Bozic from Serbia. Collection was mostly based on white color and she introduced beautiful dresses that were looking more like closed jackets with cape layers in shoulder area. This show was very extravagant and mystical.

You can have a look at her full collection at Malta Fashion Week Facebook page.

House of Jola

Second show was a Nigerian fashion label House of Jola. We had the wildness and beauty of Africa right there in front of us at Pjazza Regina in Valletta. Very lively collection with bold prints and bright colors bringing fun to fashion. My favorite was a yellow trousers with starts and a bandeau top. I wonder why yellow again.

You can have a look at House of Jola full collection at Malta Fashion Week Facebook page.

Jean Paul Benielli

Third show was a collection of jaw dropping evening dresses by a French designer from Paris, Jean Paul Benielli. Hand-embroidered lace covered with Tahitian pearls and Swarowski crystals covering the just the right parts of the body. Models were looking incredibly attractive!

You can have a look at Jean Paul Benielli full collection at Malta Fashion Week Facebook page.

Sally Bawa

Next show was another designer from Nigeria, Sally Bawa.  Another full -of- life collection with hand painted pieces and striking designs. Each outfit was totally different from the previous one.

You can have a look at Salla Bawa full collection at Malta Fashion Week Facebook page.

Judy R. Clark

Last show was a Scottish designer Judy R. Clark bringing power girls on the catwalk! She introduced hand-made couture pieces using best Scottish fabrics. I really liked British Royal looking jackets with feathers at the back. My favorite piece was a royal blue dress.

My Thursday was as mad as my Tuesday. Work, school and then straight to Gagliardi Show, celebrating  50 years of Bortex at the National Library in Valletta. You can read all about the latest Summer and Winter Gagliardi collection presented during Malta Fashion Week in my previous post.

I was wearing my favorite black jogger pants I usually wear to work.  I bought them during my trip in Madrid last October.I paired them with a waist cropped top with 3/4 sleeves in neon yellow color. If you follow my OOTDs neon yellow is THE color of the Malta Fashion Week

I wanted to keep it simple, so I just added a bold necklace and a pair of heels from Boohoo and I was ready!

During yesterday’s Gagliardi show during Malta Fashion Week 2014 at the National Library in Valletta, I was lucky to meet one of the best fashion photographers in Malta, and my friend, Kris Micallef.  Kris is not only an amazing photographer, he is fun to be around. We worked on a couple of fashion shows and photo shoots together in the past and it was always a time filled with big laughs and awesome photography. I love him to bits xxx

Kris is also a very stylish photographer always dressed up to impress. I managed to get couple of snaps of his outfit at yesterday’s show.

He is wearing a custom designed top by up and coming designer Signe  from Marbella. He was also an official backstage photographer for her AW2014/15 collection show back in April in Malaga, Spain.

I had the pleasure to meet Signe during Runway Gibraltar 2014 and I fell in love with her designs instantly. Signe is a Danish fashion designer currently living in Marbella, Spain. Her pieces are a combination of Scandinavian coolness with foreign impressions. She actually designed a super cool black and white jacket with a hoodie for me as well I am planning to wear for Malta Fashion Awards tomorrow.

So stay tuned and follow Signe on Facebook and Instagram.

Gagliardi fashion show at National Library in Malta,Valletta was such a remarkable experience. We were taken back in time in the history of Malta, surrounded by hundreds of books from the times of Knights of Malta. National Library was definitely an impressive location.

For those that don’t know, Gagliardi is a Maltese brand, all Maltese should really be proud of. The brand offers very best in high quality modern designs that blends with history and tradition creating vibrant and exciting yet classic and timeless pieces for a modern business man for his office and also after office hours.

In other words, Gagliardi is very affordable, lavish brand for real men made in Malta!

After a warm welcome to the show by a brand manager of Gagliardi Sam Borg, the show kicked off with a summer collection. Summer 2014 collection was very light, with colours ranging from traditional navy, white, different shades of blue to yellow, pink and orange. All outfits were perfectly styled and models were wearing Mr. Boho sunglasses to complete the summer look.

If there is one brand on the island men should be buying their clothes from it’s Gagliardi. All the pieces from the fashion show are available online on Gagliardi.eu or from any Bortex outlets in Malta.

Bortex is celebrating 50 years, and besides perfectly prepared material with detailed description of every single outfit that was presented during the show, everyone got a lovely 50 years of Bortex handkerchief.

I really enjoyed the show it was a nice change from women’s fashion. There should be more fashion shows with male models! Who’s with me?!

Yesterday was one of those super busy days. From work, straight to my digital marketing course and right after to Valletta, Pjazza San Gorg for Tiffany Pisani Swimwear show. You can read all about what happened at the show in my previous blog post dedicated to Tiffany Pisani show.

Color blocking is a king this week, with neon yellow being present in almost all my outfits so far, including my nails. It wasn’t any different for yesterdays show. I was wearing a midi skirt I bought from Boohoo, with a top in fuchsia color and a trench coat both from ZARA. I was going to the show right after 8 hours of work and another 2 hours of digital marketing course so  I basically had to wear something suitable for work yet interesting enough to attend a fashion show.

I was sitting next to Mariel, blogger at Confessions of a former size 6, and believe it or not she was wearing a midi skirt in yellow neon too with pointed heels just as I was. Bloggers dress up alike! So instead of one you can enjoy two different looks in one post :)

Today I am taking a break from Malta Fashion Week to recharge my batteries for the next half of the week!

Tiffany Pisani Swimwear show is the hottest post I have ever wrote about. The show happened at Pjazza San Gorg in Valletta with a fountain right in front of the catwalk and latest Mercedes-Benz C class on the catwalk. Swimwear, beautiful girls and luxury cars definitely go together! Daniela Spiteri, the face of Malta Fashion Week opened the showed by revealing the latest Mercedes-Benz C Class in a classy white color. I could totally drive that beast :)

The whole Pjazza was closed off for the show and those that were invited.  Fashion TV and Fashion Vodka is one of the sponsors for Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week 2014, and as soon as I entered I was literally F(ed) by Fashion TV and Fashion Vodka, you know, that  blink blink little F sticker? It is actually someones job to F people! I am serious!

Tiffany’s collection was inspired by Brazil, and she presented us with timeless but trendy bikini and swimsuits in colors ranging from white, blue, red to purple and vibrant prints in green. All the models were looking stunning and it was really hard to concentrate on the bikini when you have those nice, toned, long legs and bums you know you will never have right in front of you.

Tiffany Pisani swimwear is available from Label C boutique in Sliema.

Enjoy couple of snaps below and don’t forget to have a look at Malta Fashion Week Facebook page for more and professional photos from the show.

You might have heard that Charles & Ron SS2015 collection was and outstanding show yesterday at St. Elmo’s Square in Valletta. Have a look at their designs and read all about it here.

Charles & Ron was the most awaited show of the week of Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week 2014, so I made sure I arrive early enough to get in and find a seat. It wasn’t a first row this time round, but hey, who am I to sit there anyway. First row is usually reserved for buyers (owners of the shops that stock Charles&Ron and most loyal clients), just like it should be. Second row was just fine sitting next to bloggers can never be a bad seat ;)

Without any pre-planning of my outfit I opened my wardrobe and felt like wearing this printed dress I bought for my birthday party last summer. Not to feel cold I paired it with a baby pink oversized blazer from Stradivarius (I bought it last Saturday so go and get one it’s a must-have). I wore a belt around the blazer to give it a little bit different NY city- style look.

I like to wear dresses with boots rather than elegant heels. It don’t like to show too much skin.

I have to say Charles & Ron surprised me, in a very good way. Charles & Ron are two amazing Maltese designers, masters in designing iconic, over the top evening wear, with an always present Maltese touch. And that is exactly what I was expecting from their SS2015 collection. Surprise surprise, as soon as the first model walked out on the catwalk wearing a short skater skirt and a bandeau top, I knew Charles & Ron brand just got a revamp.

Charles & Ron are often referred to as Maltese Dolce&Gabbana, so a 30 minute delay of the show was expected. ‘Humilissima Civitas’ the name of their SS2015 collection, was inspired by intriguing and always evolving city of Valletta. The collection is made for a woman that is proud to wear her city. Many pieces were created form a unique white fabric with prints of Valletta all over it, in combination with pastel colors of mint and baby pink. Pencil skirts, cropped tops, trousers and dresses, they have it all. These ready to wear Valletta inspired pieces were my absolute favorite.

It wouldn’t be Charles & Ron if there weren’t any jaw dropping, look-like-a-goddess dresses on the catwalk. The two I will most probably dream about were modeled by stunning Bojana wearing a mint dress with cut out knitted pieces and the other one was the one an only Tiffany Pisani closing the show in a piece made for the show.

I can’t help it but less is the new more seems to be the new direction for Charles & Ron,and  I DO like it!

I am into color blocking and knee-length skirts. Period. I think knee-length skirts are one of the best thing that could ever happen to fashion. Skirts are great for any time of the day, I usually wear them to work or when I want look a little bit elegant but not boring.

The third Malta Fashion Week event was happening at Renzo Piano steps in Valletta. I knew it will get a little bit chilly in the evening so a jacket was a necessity if I didn’t want to freeze my ass. I also have to admit that I am currently obsessing about yellow neon color – be it a nail polish, my running shoes or clothes. So there comes my passion for color-blocking, when my orange knee-length skirts meets my obsession with neon yellow jacket.

After graduation she worked with famous fashion house Valentino in Milan, moved to Paris and worked with Giambattista Valli and worked on projects and collaborations with Max Mara Atelier/Elegante, Longchamp and Lancôme to mention a few.

We are lucky enough to have her in Malta (actually Gozo)! So let’s get down to business – in this case her SS2015 collection.

The name of her collection is Desert Storm and it’s inspired by nature which was translated into green, blue and cream colors used with some floral embellishments. The subtitle of the collection is “I couldn’t tell where heaven stopped and the earth began”. I think there wasn’t a better location than Renzo Piano Steps in Republic Street,Valletta to bring this title into life. Don’t you think so?

When the models walked down the steps it looked like they are walking down from another planet, each one of them with different superpower, bringing joy and hope. Every single outfit was unique, perfectly crafted. Collection was ranging from flowing dresses to perfectly fitted jumpsuits.

I am always excited to see the new talent on the block! The new designer show took place at the outstanding venue, Casino Maltese in Valletta.  Before the show I had a quick look at the Photography Exhibition at the Pjazza San Gorg in Republic Street. I have one question – Who is Alan Gelati? (I obviously looked him up and now I want to meet him). His photos were just perfect! One of the exhibited photos is from a photo shoot I worked on last summer shot by Gary Bugeja. Whole exhibition is very enjoyable so go  and have a look kids!

Note: All photos are taken with an iPhone. They are not the best quality but I believe they are still good to give you an idea of what the collection was all about through my eyes, sitting in a front row. You can find all professional photos on Malta Fashion Week Facebook page here.

Edith

The New Designer Show was opened by a very wearable and feminine collection of Edith. I liked how she livened up her two tone collection in black and white with pieces in fuchsia and little feather details. She closed her collection with a beautiful black evening gown, with a batwing back covered in gold and feather details.

Gremar

‘Never give up’ was an ides behind the second collection designed by Gremar. It was also a feminine collection with black evening dresses based on clean cuts with lace details. I am not a fan of black color so my favorite piece was a white skater dress.

Marta Vidal

Marta Vidal took us on a ride to the jungle of textures! I do like printed fabrics and the mixture of white fabric with a blue print on it and yellow leather pieces were really awesome! I also liked the pieces in earthy colors of brown and green. My fave is the elegant  knee-length skirt with open front top.

Parascandalo Marco

I remember Marco from the first edition of Runway. Already back then he had introduced very creative yet wearable pieces for women. Yesterday he blown us away with his collection for men. I must say it was pretty FAQA (means cool in Maltese) collection! It was quite versatile ranging from leather shorts, silk shirts to printed tees and knitted sweater.

Fransina

Fransina introduced her 6o’s inspired bag collection. Even though I don’t think catwalk is the right way of presenting a bag collection I enjoyed the show. It was styled very well, all models were wearing feminine skater dresses in light grey color so the most of the bags in juicy green color were popping out.

Churpina

Churpina’s collection was another feminine, very playful and fun collection in pastel colors. There were so many little different details on every single outfit with embroider flowers here in there. Watching the catwalk was very relaxing and felt like being in Alice in Wonderland movie.

Mosca

Mosca’s collection was nothing but strong and mysterious! Collection ranging from beautiful evening pieces in silk with mysterious prints, black with silver detailing skater skirt and trousers to bodysuit. Perfectly crafted designs you could easily add into your wardrobe straight from the catwalk.

Lukka

Vintage inspired, very yummy collection in different shades of purple and red. All pieces were very trendy with a vintage twist ranging from day to evening dresses.

TAIA

The girls behind TAIA, Mandy and Alicia created one hell of a sophisticated yet elegant collection. This collection is made for a woman that knows what she wants. I totally loved the flower printed fabric that was present in each design in combination with some other colors. The show itself was very professional, with loads of energy coming from models, walking down the catwalk wearing the designs like their own skin.

CELESTE

Celeste introduced a collection of classic pieces with a modern twist. Martina’s collection was simple yet very elegant. I was impressed how she managed to create a  mini skirt looking so effortlessly elegant. These pieces are perfect if you want to look just like that – effortlessly elegant. Martina always managed to surprise us with a piece to die for. In this collection it’s a white long evening dress.

POSHET

Poshet is a collection of unique tote bags and tank tops. Being a stylist myself I actually really like how this show was styled. Little details like feathers in models hair made a big difference and took us on a ride to the wild. Every tank top and a bag  looked very different but somehow complementing each other at the same time. Fun pieces!

Rosemarie Abela

I have to admit Rosemarie was a big surprise for me. Where was she hiding for all this time? Her collection was inspired by Samurais and Twiggy.  I mean I could never ever imagined Samurais could look sooooo stylish! Amazing pieces with very unique cuts an layers, with some knitted pieces here and there.

The New Designer Show at Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week 2014 was a great mix of styles. I wish all designers best of luck for the Best New Designer Award on Saturday 31st May during Malta Fashion Awards. Let the best one win! But I hope all will continue bringing their collections to life no matter what!

I also would like to show big love to ALDO! I sometimes forget to look at the outfits, those shoes are taking all my attention! Dangerous!

Phew! I was fashionably super late, almost didn’t make it. Got stuck in traffic and drove like a crazy MF! I literally run it from my car parked on a double yellow line! I was determined to make it and no matter what I have to see the shows!

I never plan my outfits before a show or an event. I dress up according to my mood and weather conditions. I am also not a “dress” type I prefer trousers. I am currently obsessing about sporty look so I thought of building my outfit around my pants from Stradivarius. I paired them with a simple shirt in this beautiful blue color and finished my look with a statement jacket. Chunky accessories and a pair of heels and I ready to kick off Malta Fashion Week in style!

Ritienne Zammit  is without any doubt number one designer in Malta! She won a Best New Designer Award last year for a reason!

Her show at Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week 2014 is the one I was looking forward to the most and what a show it was! I loved everything about the show – designs, music, movie before the show and designs. Did I mention designs? When the first model came out on the catwalk I had goosebumps, I’m not kidding!

Collection called AMEN, was very young and rebellious,  it was a mixture of religious and big city urban style. I was impressed how she can transform the 2 contradictive styles into a wearable yet edgy winter collection.  It was a mixture of four materials  - fabric, plastic, metal and fur. I totally loved the red and gold fabric combinations with gold ornaments printed on it.

The combination of all materials within each outfit was something else. Ritienne combined fabric with plastic to emphasize certain parts of the body and made it look rebelliously feminine.

Besides jaw dropping pieces for both women and men, Ritienne is a master of head pieces and accessories.

Catwalk was run down by reb-angels with bold accessories and gold halo around their head.

Mens collection was a combination of black an gold fabric both with ornaments printed on it. Designs were a combination of  fabric and leather.

Ritienne closed the show with a white, I dare to say, wedding dress. She designs skirts and dresses with cuts that are little bit more than they should be. What a rebel!

Ritienne’ s collection was nothing but phenomenal! Here is a short video.

Show her some love here and enjoy some snaps from this morning below.

Malta Fashion Week officially started!

I almost didn’t make it to the show, I was stuck in traffic for more than 45 minutes from Naxxar to Valletta. Gosh I was panicking! Driving faster than usual I made it and enjoyed the show with a view from the front row.

Few minutes before the show, Republic Street in Valletta was full of fashion people and everyone else lucky enough passing by waiting for the show to begin. After the red ribbon was cut by Adrian Mizzi and representatives from V18 the Malta Fashion Week officially started with Creative Factory 7, tailored by Gaetano Deguara show.

The collection is called BioSphere, with the idea based on life on Earth and relationship of all species living on it. Fabrics were created from manipulated paintings with birds, fish, bees, butterflies and penguins on it.

I really like the idea of bringing nature and balance of life through fashion. The collection itself was very summery and colorful, ranging from morning to evening wear. Every piece will bring a breath of fresh air into your life and wardrobe.

My favorite piece was a long yellow dress with butterflies and a jacket with penguins at the back.  The cutest moment of the show was when a little girl and a boy walked on the red carpet. My heart melted. <3

Here is a short video of the show.

Yesterday I had a pretty eventful evening with Malta Fashion Week 2014 bloggers meeting and Malta Design Week launch lined up straight after full day of work.

I wanted to wear something that can take me from 8am till 11pm. I recently bought these graphical print trousers from Stradivarius at The Point. They are super comfortable, and look good in the day light and the moonlight.

There is one rule I always keep in mind if I wear a piece with too much going on – keep the attention on it. What I am trying to say here is, that I try to  build my outfit around my colorful trousers. I paired them with a simple top in basic color. I’ve got the top from Stradivarius as well. They have couple of different colors and I think I will go back and grab one.

I was not sure about my shoes. I got used to wearing my running shoes maybe a little bit too much lately, so going back to heels and pain wasn’t the ideal scenario for me.  I bought these pointed heels in nude color from New Look.

I will be attending all shows at Malta Fashion Week 2014 with a front seating :) so keep coming back for the straight-from-the runway news and also my personal outfit posts.

Feel free to check out my facebook page Pavli The Stylist with even more photos!

I thank Svetlana SP for her fab photography skills with my iPhone once again! That girl has got talent! x

Garden Runway Look

Garden Runway Look

On the day of SARTO’s Garden Runway event I had no clue what to wear. I knew it should be something colorful and summery with an edge.

The weather was  ideal, not too hot with a little breeze so I started with a midi-skirt and build my outfit around it. Since I didn’t do any summer shopping yet I had to be creative and wear my outfit with boots. I am a big fan of color-blocking so I tried red with fuchsia – it kinda worked! I had a feeling this event will go until early evening so I grabbed a jacket not to freeze my ass later on.

I am a disaster when it comes to make-up and hair (it’s a fact) so I just went for a fuchsia lipstick and I was ready to mingle.

If you are curious enough and would like to see some amazing backstage snaps by Kris Micallef go straight here.

I am beyond overwhelmed by Sarto’s first fashion show I had the pleasure to attend last Thursday, 8th May. The show took place at Prime Minister’s Summer Residence Girgenti Palace in Siggiewi. I was really excited about the event especially about the fresh-from-runway collections of Blumarine, Dolce&Gabbana and Emporio Armani.

The whole event was inspired by Sicilian wedding with the runway in the garden, literally on the grass. As soon as I entered the venue I had the pleasure to meet Michelle Farrugia, the lady behind the show, and all representatives of the big brands from abroad.  After some aperitivo and Aperol Spritz we were all seated at a table in the garden. All those white tables and chairs and beautiful flower decorations made the event feel like it’s one big family gathering with 3 shows and 3 course meal by ZEST caterers and free flowing wine on the agenda.

First show was very romantic and feminine collection by Blumarine with light, fluid, embroidered pieces in silk. Those pieces will make every women look like a goddess. After the first show it was time for a quick break and a starter. I was sitting next to Adrian Mizzi, the name everyone in the fashion industry in Malta knows, talking about preparations before Malta Fashion Week.

Second show was a pure pleasure for women’s eyes, in other words Emporio Armani with male models no-one has seen walking on a runway in Malta before. I am still not sure what did I enjoy more, that sporty-futuristic collection or those oh-so-good-looking models!

The event was hosted by Mrs. Michelle Muscat in aid of Marigold Foundation, foundation with the main aim to empower existing NGOs and associations. After we donated to support this cause and we enjoyed our main course we were ready for the last and the most awaiting show of Dolce&Gabbana.

We were taken on a fashionably historic ride of Sicily and it’s interaction with Greece in the ancient world. Collection full of old photographs of ruined amphitheaters as prints, columns reproduced as heels on shoes and dresses petaled with Sicily’s almond blossom. Something I fell in love with are Dolce girls and their chunky earrings! I want them all!

SARTO will have these straight-from-the-runway pieces available at their shop in St Julians for a limited time so go and get them ladies and gents!

After the show it was time for Sicilian granita and a sneak peek backtage were I got to speak to one of the international models that happened to be from Slovakia, my homeland! She is the one in that long black Dolce&Gabbana dress you can admire below. Kate is a lovely, very tall model I am planning to have an interview with for my blog at a later stage.

I am super honored I could attend such a wonderful and top-notch event. I could’t image a better spent Thursday afternoon, could you? Thank you SARTO!

SARTO Garden Runway Show

I went to SARTO the other day to get all the information about an upcoming SARTO Garden Runway show.

SARTO is a multi-brand store in Malta with elegant, sophisticated and timeless fashion apparel for both men and women. They stock designer brands like Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Blumarine, Emporio Armani, Giuseppe Zannotti Design and Valentino Garavani. I have the last  BLUMARINE show at PINK fashion show imprinted in my mind, all those pieces in fuchsia made me go wonky.

Talking about the show, I shall be enjoying summer collections by Dolce&Gabbana for both men and women, Emporio Armani for men and BLUMARINE for women. Knowing that more than a half of the models are flying in from abroad to model mentioned collections sounds like music to my ears. I was allowed to have a quick look at the designs we will be seeing during the show – we shall expect florals and loads of colors and hopefully much more to surprise us.

I am uber excited to attend SARTO Garden Runway show, happening on 8th May at The Summer Residence of The Prime Minister in Siggiewi. Now I need to figure out what to wear to this super event, and charge my iPhone to keep those real time updates flowing.

Before getting to know all those exciting news I was admiring some of the pieces at SARTO. Now it’s your turn.

What an amazing day!

Photo shoot for SS issue of Pavli Magazine is done!

Svetlana, Fleur (Sarinah), B-biche and myself met outside Burger King in Republic street and after a quick chat and a cup of coffee we headed straight to Hastings gardens. The weather was simply perfect; the sun was shining with a little bit of breeze and a garden full of blooming flowers , it didnt take us long to start shooting.

The theme of the photoshoot was to bring that summer feeling back, time of the year we all love so much especially on this little island, when everyone seems to be happy full of positive energy, colors and smiles.

I can’t wait to see the end work by both, photographer Svetlana and videographer Sarinah. Model was something else too, I am really glad I met B-biche, blogger and amazing model to work with from Holland. ”

So watch out guys, and subscribe to receive the 7th issue of Pavli Magazine!

Enjoy the photos!

Day to Night Spring Dress

Day to Night Spring Dress

There are many times when I open my wardrobe and feel like there is nothing I can or want to wear. I end up trying on different outfits and combinations until I get tired and end up wearing the first thing my hands could possibly grab. I don’t like to wear the same outfit twice, so I always try to amend what I wear,  add accessories, wear different shoes to make sure that the outfit looks like a totally different one!

If you feel like you ended up in the same situation before this post should make you feel a little bit less frustrated.

Here are two different ways of wearing the same dress. One is for a lazy afternoon or a day off and the other one is for an evening look, maybe for some drinks – after – work with your friends.

For the evening look just throw an elegant blazer over your dress and wear heels to complement this feminine chic look. Add a small clutch bag and you are ready to mingle.

For the day look, wear the dress with flat shoes and keep your phone and make-up in a shoulder bag. Then just enjoy the day!

I took these pictures couple of months ago, and the lovely girl is my sister. All items and accessories are from ZARA.

I also added few dresses I like from ZARA and that are great to take you from day to night life.

I always look forward to in-store events like the one of yesterday organised at Jane Norman and Oasis store in Valletta.

It was quite cold and rainy evening but it didn’t stop me from jumping into my car and heading to Valletta.

And I was glad I did.

As soon as I stepped into the shop, and before I had the chance to look around I found myself holding a glass of Bailey’s and a Baci. Very tasty and warm welcome indeed.

Bailey's moment

Bailey’s moment

After making my life that tiny bit sweeter I started to look around and pointing to dresses, jumpers, coats and handbags that catched my eye.

My style is not very feminine, but I saw these long dresses, and simple couldn’t stop thinking how would I look wearing them for NYE. Long, princess  dress is definitely missing in my wardrobe. That peach one on the left stole my heart.

In winter I am very attracted to everything fluffy. Most probably because I see it as a great option to protect myself from the inhumanly cold times in Malta. I wish humidity just disappears  - I might put that one on my Xmas Wishlist, ha!

Jane Norman

Passing by the handbags I spotted this shopper with small black and yellow details. It would so compliment my outfit I was wearing. Don’t you think so?

The ultimate winner of the night is this structured blue coat from Oasis. I love blue and this winter it’s the new black!

While trying on the coat I bumped into Caroline, stylist and fashion blogger for Caroline’s Fashion Styling that confirmed my choice and left with words “just get it” ;)

I was very pleased to see the news about one of the local retail giants VF Group launching a new mobile app called Virtual Wardrobe.

Besides being a fashion stylist I definitely am one hell of a  digital enthusiast. You can see me running around constantly holding my iPhone, replying to emails, updating my social profiles or simply having a virtual conversation with my clients or friends.

The name of the app pretty much explains what you could do with this app. You can virtually browse a wardrobe consisting of 4 outlets with brands like MEXX, Hugo Boss, Boss Orange, FCUK, CK Jeans, G-Star and Samsonite.  I find Virtual Wardrobe as a very user friendly app with simple menu divided into 4 categories for Women, Men, Mini & Kids & Juniors and Travel products.

Virtual Wardrobe app

Virtual Wardrobe app

The category that instantly caught my eye was Outfit Creator. Outfit Creator is a fab function where you can not just browse the latest pieces in stores but also create an outfit to your liking. Once you create your outfit using items you like, you can send an email with a link to your creation, add your contact details and order everything with one click, just like that.

I buy most of my clothes and shoes online. I somehow don’t seem to have time to go round the shops and look for that something I might like anymore. I prefer to browse what’s available on my phone and simply order and buy it with few clicks. I especially like this function, I think it could be quite handy when I need to source a specific piece or pair of shoes for my next photoshoot or filming.

OUTFIT CREATOR

OUTFIT CREATOR

If you are happy with your outfit creations, and not that sure if you want to buy it straight away you can simply Save it. If you are using the app just for fun, or need an advice from your friends,  it’s super easy to share it on your Facebook Timeline and ask your friends to have a look. You bet I gave it a shot. This is my creation.

I believe Virtual Wardrobe will make it to all fashion enthusiasts and style conscious individuals phones on the island.

The location for the first Pink (magazine) Fashion Show last Wednesday, was the bomb! Honestly, I have never been to a show in Malta with such a strong characteristic. The location was the winner!

Malta Aviation Museum

Malta Aviation Museum

I especially liked small details like lights on the runway. Awesome!

I personally never been to the Malta Aviation Museum, it was pretty big and cold. I liked how the location set the atmosphere for the show – we were taken back to 1940′s  - models with curly hair and bold lipstick. The only black point goes to music selection. It would be great to listen to some modern jazz or swing tunes rather than deep club sounds.

Show with 8 brands showcasing the latest collection for fall/winter 2013  started with casual wear in iconic colors of Tommy Hilfiger, followed by evening pieces by Armani Jeans, and blue fur coat everyone was talking about. Third show was by  Max & co. It was a nice surprise for me with a very sophisticated styles and patterns, followed by Monsoon showcasing mainly lovely evening and  party dresses. Great selection of bags by Coccinelle was presented by Supernova finalists wearing black dresses, followed by modern business women looks by Marks & Spencer, and more glitters and shine in party looks by Guess. The last one was Blumarine by Sarto. Fuchsia, diamond blue and abstract flower all in one collection. Everyone seemed to be liking the rose print coat, but my absolute winner was flower printed oversized coat.

I was into shoes in general since a very young age. Shoes were actually the item I used to build my outfit around. I remember buying the weirdest pairs of shoes you could ever image at my primary school. Those were the times when I was a super fan of Spice Girls and their 10cm platform shoes. Yes, of course I have a pair like that. If I wore them more than twice I would be exaggerating. Walking was simply impossible.

Growing up (or getting old?) I started to consider the comfort and quality of the shoes more than the look and coolness of them. Up until a year ago I used to wear more comfortable but still high heeled shoes on a daily basis, to work, gym and parties too.  I couldn’t even imagine leaving my house in anything but heels. I used to have a pair of Superstars by Adidas I used to wear at night to my hip-hop classes only!

Today, I am a very proud owner of  flats, ballerina shoes, hi-top wedge boots and my latest buy – neon yellow Nike trainers.  I bought them before summer for my morning runs along Ta’xbiex Marina.

NIKE running shoes

NIKE running shoes

Few months after I see trainers in fashion magazines, and all over blogs, and I like it.  I am not talking about Converse, nor hi-tops wedge ones here. I am talking about pure professional trainers for running with special padding and all that stuff that makes running and walking comfortable.

These 3 bloggers are pulling of this latest trend pretty well. It seems like bright colored ones are on top of the list and jeans seem to be the “it” item to wear them with.

I was browsing ASOS and found these NIKE trainers that fit the description. What do you think?

For less adventurous ones I found these New Balance trainers that will go pretty much with everything.

I am pretty sure that trainers will make it to cocktail parties and  dancefloors of the night clubs in no time.

Look at this look from Asos Magazine. Isn’t it super?

Trainers are on my mind for the next shoot I will work on or an outfit post for the blog.

Stay tuned :)

Runway Select Backstage

Runway Select Backstage

I am not a very frequent blogger. I am actually not that great at being a blogger, but I definitely am a passionate stylist.

Last week I was in Spain. I was a head stylist for Runway Select event happening in Gibraltar. It was my second time this year, and I was happy to be back again to style this amazing event.

In short, Runway Select is a sister event of Runway, it’s more exclusive with more mature audience, champagne a glamorous outfits on the red carpet.

I love traveling to Spain to work on Runway, it’s very refreshing and inspiring to meet new models, new designers and pull off a show in basically 2 days! It’s a pretty big event with a crew of around 50 people including make-up and hair stylists, dressers, backstage photographers and other helpers.

I was travelling with 2 models from Malta, Francesca and Stephanie that were walking in Runway Select. We left Malta on Thursday at around 3pm and arrived to Spain at 11pm (we had a stop in Italy). The morning after, we had to be in Gibraltar for fittings – the day where I get to meet all models and designers.

Fittings started at 2pm. Each designer gets a list with models that are walking in his/her show and they are trying a dress by dress to see who fits that outfit best.

My job during the fittings is to help designers to fit the models. Get that outfit on the right model.

Shorji collection

The first designer I was working with was Christel and her brand Shorji – street and sportswear brand. Christel was the winner of last Runway show and already back then I was impressed by her items. Super wearable and extremely fashionable.

Her collection was divided into 2 parts – sportswear – leggings and tops with a wristband.

The second part of the collection were bodycon dresses in black and purple. We decided to add some accessories to go with the dresses to create more edgy look.

Shorji based her collection around black color, some leopard and zebra print sportswear items leading to more elegant designs in purple at the end of the collection. I adore all those small details on each design –  wristbands and cut out dresses. Have a look at the whole collection and also a review of the collection from the front row.

After Shorjis’ fittings, I went to meet Geetu, head designer for Arjan B brand. Arjan B is a brand with some amazing, high quality, luxury eveningwear made in London using embroidered Italian silk chiffon.

Geetu is a very sweet and bubbly person, and it was a pleasure to work with her at Runway Select. You could see the passion in her eyes. That’s what I love – seeing the passion and energy to create beautiful dresses. Every single piece I touched from her collection was simply wow and unique. Her dresses would make any women feel like a queen ;) You can have a look at the whole collection and also read an interview with Geetu about the collection.

Another international designer was Edeline Lee from London. Edelines’ designs were very structured with modernist lines and a very interesting decorative details.

Edeline was working hand in hand with her assistant so I left them at it. Have a look at Edelines’ whole collection and check out the review too.

Knowing that both designers worked for famous fashion houses made it even more exciting to work with them.

Besides myself there was Charlene, stylist & designer from Gibraltar. She was responsible for fitting models for high-street brands Boux, Next, Oasis and M&S.

Once fittings were done, all clothes had to be perfectly prepared in the exact running order, with the names of models on each outfit and every piece had to be steamed. This had to be all done before the show starts at 7pm the next day.

After fittings we went for a quick dinner at Ocean Village in Gibraltar, which is apparently a place to be on a Friday, with all the bars, restaurants and clubs. Staying out clubbing didn’t even cross my mind. Straight to the hotel and sleep I went.

We were meeting at 2pm the next day to start with hair and make-up for the shows. There were 22 models walking in the show. There were 7 shows in total starting with Shorji, followed by high-street brands of Boux, Next, Oasis and M&S. Arjan B started at 10.30pm and Edeline Lee at 11.30pm.

On this day I also met all backstage helpers, girls, that helped models change to their outfits during each show. Without dresses it’s basically impossible to make the show happen. We divided models we had to help change for each show. It’s quite though, you have to be able to memorize models names, you have to familiarize yourself with the outfits your model is  wearing, how many times is she walking in each show and you have to know when is she walking too, all that in 1 hour.

I love it how backstage is buzzing all day long, seeing models and dressers discussing outfits or going over the choreography. Once the show starts, anything else stops, it’s all about getting the models dressed and undressed in a right outfit and on time . It’s definitely stressful but extremely enjoyable at the same time. I like to see those happy smiles on designers faces.

That was Runway Select. I love that mixed feeling of exhaustion and satisfaction. My feet were burning in pain but all I could feel was happiness.

LUKE AZZOPARDI FALL/WINTER 2013/14

LUKE AZZOPARDI FALL/WINTER 2013/14

I was very excited to watch Luke Azzopardi’s show tonight and boy, he didn’t disappoint me.

He opened the show with simple black dresses bringing that feeling of sadness to the show.  I don’t want to go into what was Luke’s idea behind the show. I’ll stick to commenting on colors and style. Black is definitely a great winter color and a black dress is an ultimate wardobe staple. The models were wearing gold accessories in their hair, I could see cross necklaces and earings too.

My ultimate favorite were those pieces made of printed fabric. Thanks to a friend of mine sitting next to me I know those were all famous paintings.

Go BOB this Fall!

Go BOB this Fall!

Posted By on Oct 10, 2013

Today I uploaded a new profile picture on my personal facebook and for some reason I just scanned through my old ones.

It seems like I tend to cut my hair shorter at this time of the year.  And I like it.

It’s good for several reasons, first of all I get rid of all damaged ends and it boosts my hair, secondly, change is good in general – it’s actually the only constant in life! – and thirdly, I am a fashion stylist and I must be inspired by the latest trends.

So here I am proudly showing off my new short A-line bob.

A-line bob

I definitely feel younger and my hair feels and looks really healthy. I am basically loving it.

I always cut my hair at Beauty Team salon in Mosta. Maria is my one and only hairdresser, excellent with colors and stylish cuts!

Before I made my decision I had a look at some all-time classics like Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow.

There is only one rule you should follow:

Short bob will suit those with a square face or strong jawbone, a relaxed style with longer layers will be more suited to those with round features. According to MarieClaire.

Well my face is squarish and I like my bobs longish. I think it suits me anyway :p

You can have a look and get some inspiration from celebrities with different bob styles here. There are 48 looks to see.

I am looking forward to an event in the near future when I can twist the bob and go for these lovely waves.

What do you think?

Will you go for BOB this Fall?

I went to Notte Bianca the other day, firstly to see what is it all about ( I know it happened few times already, well I somehow missed it the previous years) and secondly to support my friend and their first collection created specifically for this event!

I was pretty excited to see the collection and I just love to see when someone manages to put all the effort and make something like this happen.

I met three lovely ladies in the Strait street in Valletta shortly after 6PM that Saturday and besides enjoying their exhibition called NAXRA (clothes where hanging on the balconies) I had a word with them too.

Enjoy the interview with Lorraine, Leanne Lewis and Thea Vella below.

Valletta Collection

Valletta Collection

1. How did you get on this project?

Lorraine: My sister, Leanne Lewis saw the call for application for Notte Bianca 2013 Projects, and approached Thea Vella and myself, to team up with her and design a clothes collection for this occasion. We had brain storming sessions, created a mood board and subsequently applied for the Moda project.

2. Where did you get the inspiration from?

Lorraine: We got our inspiration from Valletta. To be precise, we fell in love with the contrast emerging in the City between the current renovations and the older buildings. We found that the way these two worlds are blending together is so fascinating that we decided to design the clothes for this project on this concept. Everything evolved with this idea in mind. We opted to go for a minimalistic design to represent today’s trends and chose to add patterns to them, which are found in Valletta’s building architecture and the City grid design. We continued by choosing a mix of bold, neutral and rich colours that best represent Valletta to give a prestigious look and feel to the collection. We agreed to use blue and gold colours, for their intensity and richness that represent our sea, palaces, and the Baroque influence, plus the honey colour of the Maltese stone  to balance the collection out.

With regards to fabric we chose, Cotton Jersey, Cotton Satin, Cortell, Silk Chiffon, Synthetic Linen and Chiffon to achieve comfort and elegance.

We feel we managed to create an original, rich, yet harmonious collection from the ideas we put together, coupled with a touch of elegance, comfortable, ready to wear collection that transmits energy and flexibility, exactly as we see Valletta.

3. The best moment on this journey?

Lorraine: The whole journey was an amazing experience, from sketching to receiving the go ahead to participate, choosing the material etc, but I guess the best moment was, when we saw our clothes hanging and seeing people’s reaction when passing by our work.

4. And what’s next?

Lorraine: Working on more projects both individually and together and keep participating in more events. Also we are all planning to keep on studying and develop our creativity in the Art and Fashion sector.

5. What are you planning to do with the collection?

I am proud to know these girls and I will support them all the way. Can’t wait to see the clothes on a model!
